LATEST OPHTHALMIC EQUIPMENT FROM ROTARY TO BENEFIT THOUSANDS AT HADAPSAR CHARITABLE HOSPITAL Rotary Pune Sports City handed over the latest modern ophthalmic equipment to Sane Guruji Arogya Kendra Hospital in Hadapsar, Pune on 15th August 2023. The equipment includes Zeiss Surgical Microscope, Appasamy Phaco Emulsification System and Digital Imaging Slit Lamp System, LED Digital Visual Chart, along with all accessories like motorized operating table, surgeon stool, phaco handpiece, tips and sleeves. Total project cost is Rs 41.4 lakhs with grants from the Rotary Foundation and funding from Rotary Pune Sports City and Rotary clubs in the US. Surgical microscope will enable the charitable hospital to perform high quality ophthalmic surgeries like cataract, glaucoma, vitreoretinal, adnexa, orbital and others efficiently. Plus, the Phaco system will enable patients to recover faster with far superior visual outcomes. The Imaging Slit Lamp allows for complete eye examination with quicker and better diagnosis for patients. This allows records, image, data storage and for medical research and training of medical students for ophthalmic surgeries. Currently, this hospital treats 500 ophthalmic OPD patients monthly with about 50 requiring eyecare surgeries. Hence this project will enable this hospital to treat more than double the number of patients in the OPD and far more ophthalmic surgeries. All this at affordable cost (less than one third the cost in private hospitals) to the underserved patients who throng into Sane Guruji Arogya Kendra Hospital for quality healthcare.
