The Rotary Club of Pune Sport City is delighted to share the success of our recent medical project supporting the Warkaris during their yatra to the holy place of Pandharpur. The Pandharpur Wari, a cherished tradition honoring Vithala/Vithoba, involves carrying the paduka of saints like Dnyaneshwar and Tukaram in a palkhi from their shrines to Pandharpur. This pilgrimage, dating back 700-800 years, sees many pilgrims journeying on foot. Key highlights of our medical project: Medical camps were organized on different days in July. A dedicated team of 8-10 doctors provided consultations and distributed medicines to the Warkaris. The project was funded by various supporters and facilitated by a special discount on medicines. Approximately 10,000 Warkaris benefited from this initiative. Camps were held on July 2, 2024, at Saswad, followed by additional camps near Pandharpur. Three camps were held in total. Medicines for dehydration, body aches, fever, infections, and general ailments were provided, sourced from reputable MNC Pharma companies. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in making this project a reality. Your dedication and support were invaluable.
